Hello! Here’s “about me” and how I view health and healing.

Born Carolyn Honey Schneider, and almost always called Honey, I was a Rockland County, NY Chiropractor from 1984 to 2004. During that time, I was the president of the New York State Chiropractic Association, Rockland District, and active both on the board of directors and as President of The Rockland Business Women’s Network. I served as Vice President to Blue Horizons, which is a holistic healers network, and rode as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician for The Spring Hill Ambulance Corps. Great fun and good feeling being an active contributor to my community.

I’m the mother of two fantastic beings, grandmother of a beautiful boy, taught elementary school in the USA and English as a second language in Spain and Morocco, worked as an actress in musical comedy in NYC, taught American history abroad by singing folk songs to foreign students, speak fluent Spanish and French, some Arabic, Italian, Dutch and Yiddish, love to sing, dance, play piano, guitar, ukulele and recorder, travel, experience people, cultures, foods, languages and ways of being. Isn’t life exciting and amazing!

Yes, I am a chiropractor. And yes, an important mode of my care is to gently align the vertebra. And yes, that removes abnormal pressure from the nerves, which travel to every tissue, organ, gland, and muscle, allowing the body to heal itself with proper nerve supply.

And I believe there is more to holistic healing.

Doctors/Healers often use only a conglomeration of techniques to deal with the outer manifestations of illness; that is, with effects on the body, rather than causes. I believe the realm of cause is also in the invisible aspect of a person.

A whole person consists of both their inner world and their outer physical being, and also their connection to something even larger than themselves. Some might call this spirit, soul, destiny, “patterning intelligence”, the “all that is”, the “Oneness” or “life’s longing for itself”. When we work only on the body and do not address the inner thoughts, emotions and the heart of the person, we are not dealing with the whole person - we are not practicing holistic health care.

This whole healing is a lifestyle... a process that emphasizes health and harmony in body, mind and spirit. It fosters an awareness of our responsibility for our own well being. As a holistic practitioner, my goal is to help you to become independent of the need for frequent care, to help you develop your own personal healing tools, and to restore harmony through your own efforts. It's learning how and having the desire to carry out the plan. To my thinking, it requires awareness, acceptance, understanding and a willingness to change - and most importantly, the belief that all of this is possible.

So what are my healing tools?

Though I am no longer a New York chiropractor, I continue to use touch to facilitate healing. The sense of touch is the earliest to develop in the human embryo. The skin develops from the same tissue as does the nervous system, and remains in intimate association with it through life. In addition to being the largest organ of the body, the various elements comprising the skin have an extremely large representation in the brain. Stimulation of the skin is necessary for human survival, both physically and behaviorally. We require tactile experience in order to develop and to remain healthy human beings.

I also provide nourishment to the body with the "laying on of hands”. Some say that there is a transfer of energy (Prana, Chi, Life Force) that takes place from one being to another through the touch. It is more than just the physical body that is contacted... it's the emotional body as well. I use Reiki, as well as skills I learned as a graduate of the IM School of Healing Arts. Having become a Reverend, I am able to use my hands for healing "legally" wherever I travel. My focus is on personal evolution, movement towards self-mastery, and spiritual principles as the foundation of healership. In helping others, I too experience a gift. The energy flows and moves and the satisfaction is doubled. Giving is receiving!

In addition, I enjoy using therapeutic balancing and fragrant Young Living essential oils, and lovely, soothing, deepening and expanding music as part of my caring. I sometimes offer suggestions and support for lifestyle changes and exercise, to help you deal with the stresses of life. With my knowledge as a certified clinical nutritionist, I may make dietary recommendations with foods, juices, herbs, Bach Flower Remedies, "power foods” and supplements.

Both in my chiropractic practice and my own life, I saw how some thoughts create mental and physical ailments, unhappiness, confusion and fear. I learned how I can help myself and others to be free of these self-limiting beliefs and release historic negative emotional patterns, simply through self-reflective and mindful questions.

In 2003 I dedicated energy to developing myself as an Option Mentor, which involves listening deeply and using gentle, non-judgmental and non-directive questions to help look at thoughts and feelings. This is done in order to discover the beliefs that guide us, either toward joy or misery.

In 2008 I discovered The Work of Byron Katie. Katie teaches a method to allow us freedom from stressful thinking through only four simple questions and then “turnarounds” for our stressful thoughts. This has helped me to see that sometimes the opposite of what I believe is also true. And that I cannot even absolutely know that these stressful thoughts are even true! I use Katie's work with my clients as well. Katie has helped me add an expansive dimension to my life, and to help others do the same, experiencing even more deeply how the tone of my life is based on JUST my thought, my reaction to what is, and who I would be without my story. She is a master!

These processes continue to transform my life, and by becoming my own best expert using self-inquiry, I am enabled to make ongoing daring and wonderful changes, currently living full-time in my motorhome, traveling the USA, and to be more peaceful and joyous in my daily life. I can facilitate your work as well. Please contact me or avail yourselves of their web sites for more information. The Option Institute, www.option.org and Byron Katie, www.thework.com.

Are there some changes you'd like to make in your own life? The story you tell yourself determines your joy or misery! Is it true?

So, that’s a lot “about me”. What about you? Please contact me and share.
